Policies
PRISM's rules on originality, AI use and review. Policies the editors have not written yet are marked in square brackets.
Originality and AI use
Every submission must be a completely original piece of work by its author. Anyone who helped with parts of it, including teachers, mentors and peers, must be named on an acknowledgment page between the end of the work and the bibliography.
PRISM does not tolerate the use of AI whatsoever. Anyone caught using AI will not be allowed to publish in PRISM, ever.
Review process
Editors screen every submission promptly against the submission guidelines. Within a week, the author receives an email either confirming that the work will be reviewed or explaining that it does not meet the guidelines.
Each submission that meets the guidelines is assigned a reviewer, who recommends that it be accepted, revised, or rejected. The Editorial Board then meets and decides the final outcome for each submission.
Accepted work is published in the upcoming issue. When an author is asked to revise and resubmit, PRISM commits to publishing the work as long as the recommended revisions are made. PRISM does not consider work it has previously rejected, but authors are welcome to submit other essays.
